Education Scotland Report: Inspectors Praise Old Monkland Primary and Nursery for Compassionate Leadership

Old Monkland Primary School and Nursery received positive feedback following a recent inspection by Education Scotland.

Inspectors commended the head teacher’s “strong and compassionate” leadership in supporting staff and the wider school community. They also highlighted the nurturing environment that fosters positive relationships between students and staff, with children engaging well in their learning. While the school was rated as “satisfactory” overall, areas for improvement were identified, including better tracking of student progress and more responsive nursery learning approaches.

Despite the school receiving satisfactory ratings, the inspectors have assured parents and carers that no follow-up action is required. However, the Care Inspectorate has yet to decide if further checks will be necessary to ensure the recommendations, such as staff training and safety measures, are effectively implemented. The school remains committed to addressing the suggested improvements while maintaining its nurturing atmosphere for students.

Old Monkland Primary continues to build on its strengths, providing a nurturing space where children can thrive academically and socially.
