Charley Barley’s Nursery in Brighton has been awarded the highest rating of “Outstanding” by Ofsted, following an inspection in August.
Previously rated “Good,” the nursery earned praise for its excellent planning, leadership, and nurturing environment that supports children’s emotional development.
Staff were commended for their meticulous approach to helping children manage emotions through creative strategies, like using visual prompts. Inspectors noted how children are “exceptionally kind and courteous,” highlighting the nursery’s strong focus on emotional well-being, resulting in exemplary behaviour throughout.
The Ofsted report emphasised the inclusive environment where every child is valued and supported. Babies were seen developing confidence and older children demonstrated skills that prepare them for school. The curriculum encourages children to explore the world confidently, retaining new knowledge and asking insightful questions.
